The Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) is a unique two to four letter code assigned to transportation companies for identification purposes. The SCAC is required for US Customs entry, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), intermodal interchange agreements, when doing business with mamy shippers, on rate tariffs filed with regulatory agencies, and doing business with the US Government.
Registration name: Your company name must match your registration with the Department of Transportation and/or the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
One SCAC per mode of operation: Using this online application, you may apply for one SCAC per mode of operation. If you hold both an MC number as a motor carrier and an FF number as a freight forwarder, you may submit separate online applications to obtain an SCAC for each operation.
Payment: To complete the online application you must have a valid credit card and email address. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express and Discover.
The SCAC application fee is $95.00. Order Here!
Notification: You will receive a Certificate of Standard Carrier Alpha Code assignment via email. Your SCAC assignment will be valid through June 30 of the next year. Approximately 30 days prior to the expiration date, we will send you an invoice to renew your SCAC.
